Founder / Co Owner / DJ

DJ Randy G was born Randy Grant on the beautiful island of Saint Croix in the US Virgin Islands. He was born to parents who are originally from the island of Antigua & Barbuda. At the age of 6, Randy relocated to the birthplace of hip hop aka The Bronx during the mid 1980’s. Randy was raised in New York during the golden years of hip hop. The sounds of KRS One, Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Roxanne Shante as well as reggae artistes like Yellowman, Tiger and many other artistes surrounded him at a young age. Randy was exposed to various genres of music when his mom worked in the music department at the former Alexanders Department Store on the intersection of Fordham Road & The Grand Concourse.

During the early 1990’s while attending The High School of Art & Design in Manhattan, Randy started his record collection by using his money that was intended for his school lunch. That was the start of his vinyl records collection. The High School of Art & Design had famous alumni’s of famed rappers Fabolous, Havoc & Prodigy from Mobb Deep, Pharoahe Monch, ASAP Ferg, Christopher “Play” Martin from Kid’n Play, Fab Five Freddy, DJ Roger Sanchez,  singer Tony Bennett, and fashion designers Calvin Klein & Marc Jacobs to name a few. It was also during high school that Randy decided to starting DJ’ing by using equipment that was purchased by his aunts now deceased husband. After years of practicing, Randy was recruited to play on a reggae sound system (which in Jamaican pop culture, is a group of disc jockeys, engineers and MC’s playing various forms of reggae music) named Renegade High Powa. From 1994 to 1998 Randy played in weddings, private events, clubs, block parties and etc…. all over New York City, New Jersey & Connecticut tri-state area. In 1998, Randy decided to make a change by leaving the DJ business and decided to enlist in the United States Army. From 1998 through 2006 while in the Army, and then eventually into the Army Reserves, Randy totally stepped away from music while stationed in places like Missouri, South Korea, and Texas. It was then that he started paying attention to the rap music coming from the south & mid west. In 2005, Randy made the decision to relocate from San Antonio Texas to the metro Atlanta area.

DJ Randy G

In late 2007, Randy started to purchase professional DJ equipment and slowly re-enter the DJ business. The dynamics were different in the music business. Crates of vinyl records were replaced by megabytes of MP3’s & WAV files. And record players were replaced by CDJ’s and eventually controllers. Randy was also now a father and a family man. The decision was made to DJ primarily for weddings, corporate, and private upscale events. A few years later Randy had the opportunity to host 2 separate radio shows on 3 different stations: MusicLinkRadio.com, Fresh FM in Leeds, England, and 107.3 FM in Antigua & Barbuda. During this time Randy interviewed reggae artists like Romain Virgo, Christopher Martin, QQ, Destiny Sparta and soca artists Bunji Garlin, Teddyson John, Sure D, and Sizwe.

In 2017, DJ Randy G Entertainment & Event Lighting was established, and then in 2019 Randy combined operations with a new re-branded company named Epic DJ’s Entertainment. With over 20 years of experience, DJ Randy G has expertise in handling music genres such as reggae / dancehall, soca / calypso, AfroBeats, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, county, and some latin.
